Adventures of a Sweden wedding photographer.

Last spring I travelled all the way to Skåne, the most southern part of Sweden, to photograph the beautiful classic castle wedding of Cecilia and Simon. I had been looking forward to this wedding all winter. Cecilia is a tailor and she made her own dress, which turned out to exceed all my expectations. One of the best men made her jewellery and the wedding rings, and Simon himself made his bride a beautiful silver tiara. I could just go on and on about all the stunning details of this wedding, from the flowers to the stationary and the beautiful surroundings. Also, it was definitely the first time in my career that I saw an actual real canon fired by a bride and groom.

The Barber | Malmö

My day started with an hour-long drive from my AirBnb to Malmo, the biggest city in the area, to follow the groom and his men while they got pampered at the barber’s. If you’ve ever wondered how to spend the morning with your guys in style, this is it! I have to admit that beards, tattoos and craft beer make me slightly weak in the knees.

The Wine castle of Kronovall | Kronovalls Vinslott

Kronovall Castle is tucked away in the woods and the rolling hills of Skåne. In spring the fields in the area are covered in a yellow blanket of rapeseed flowers. All the rooms have gorgeous authentic interiors, from the wallpapers, to the paintings and lampshades and the most perfect library I’ve seen in a while. Cecilia got ready in the beautiful bridal suite of the castle. Later on they had the reception and toast in the baroque gardens and dinner in the empire style salon, with ceiling paintings and curly gold leaf decorations. After an exquisite three-course-meal the guests were guided across the courtyard by torchlight, on to the old coach house where the wedding cake, coffee and liqueurs were waiting.

Warm welcome and warm goodbyes

The best part about this wedding though was how warmly I was welcomed into their family and group of friends. In those few days I spent with them I really felt like I belonged there. It’s so amazing and wonderful when everything comes together! Before I left to the airport there was a big exchange of hugs with everyone. Thank you Cecilia and Simon for everything!
