I met Josi and Bart just over a year ago at Dutch wedding fair Engaged. I remember vividly how exited they were about planning their wedding in Jachthuis Beukenrode. When a few weeks later we met up again to discuss their day in detail, they got me just as exited as they were.  As soon as I heard that lovely Inge from Oh Wonder Films was going to shoot their wedding video and Jennifer Laarman was going to take care of the florals, I knew that the day couldn’t get any more perfect. But then it did!

The theme they had chosen for their wedding was a moody fairytale vibe, inspired by the books of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersson. The day started in her parents’ beautiful old cottage and garden, which could have easily been the opening scene for a real-life fairytale. Seriously, if you have a pretty garden in the family, there is absolutely no reason not to get married there. Backyard weddings are absolutely a favourite of mine for sure!
After a toast and delicious lunch (they even included super tasty gluten free goodies just for me!!!) in the midst of the rose bushes, we all moved to the ceremony location.

Jachthuis Beukenrode in Doorn may have become one on my absolute favourite wedding venues of last wedding season. The hunting lodge itself is absolutely beautiful, inside and out, with it’s white timber details, massive fire place and antique wallpapers. The gardens and woods around it are lovely as well, and offer a beautiful setting for the bride and groom portrait session. If you are looking for a wedding venue with old time class, but also a relaxed feel to it, this is it.

Who doesn’t want their wedding ceremony to take place under a majestic, massive red beech tree? UHUH, I thought so! I absolutely love old trees. We had our own wedding ceremony under a roof of trees as well, and I don’t regret that one bit! This red beech in the gardens of Jachthuis Beukenrode with it’s warm, dark-orange foliage was truly special though.

Dear Josi and Bart, I wish you the best happy every after and a life filled with fairytale-worthy adventures!
